Getting Dressed in Your 40s Shouldn’t Feel Like a Guessing Game
Aug 25, 2025
As an almost-44-year-old working mum of three teens, I know how much your body and your style can change in this season of life. Hormones, health, lifestyle shifts… they all play a part in how we feel each day. And while some things might be outside our control, one thing we can control is how we feel in our clothes.
Because here’s the truth: getting dressed in your 40s doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or like a guessing game. With a few simple tweaks, you can feel fabulous in what you wear every single day.
Here are three quick tips to get you started:
1. Pay attention to the colours that love you back
Notice which colours make your skin look fresh and glowing and which ones leave you looking a little tired. That’s your colour palette giving you clues! Wearing shades that work with your natural colouring will instantly lift your look without needing to buy a whole new wardrobe.
2. Choose the right lipstick
For a natural, flattering look, try a lipstick that echoes your natural lip tone. A “barely there” nude lip can give you that polished (but still effortless) vibe and works beautifully for everyday wear.
3. Build outfits in 3s
A quick styling hack I love: create outfits around three pieces. Start with a top and bottom, then add one more item; like a jacket, cardigan, or scarf. Add a pop of colour from your palette, and you’ll have an instantly fresh and put-together look without overthinking it.
And that’s just the beginning. Think of me as your colour stylist in your pocket — here to help you figure out which colours and styles make you feel confident, happy, and energised every day.
